For the second year, CLARITY is proud to be an active participant in the CWG events, contributing to the organization and key discussions. In 2024, the CWG event series brought together industry leaders at three gatherings: the North American Spring Conference in New Orleans (April 21–24), the CWG Nordic Online event (June 11), and the European Fall Conference in Dubrovnik (October 13–17). The engagement continues with the anticipated CWG Nordic Chapter Offline meetup in Copenhagen on November 28.
Each event has been a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and advancing SAP solutions like Variant Configuration, CPQ, and AI-driven processes. From dynamic in-person workshops to virtual presentations, these gatherings highlighted the intersection of SAP solutions and artificial intelligence.
CWG Events: Highlights and Key Sessions
This year’s CWG events brought together the SAP community and made it possible to discover fresh ideas, build meaningful connections and relationships with industry experts. Here are some of the key moments that stood out:
1. North American Spring Conference in New Orleans (April 21–24)
The CWG North American Spring Conference, held in New Orleans, combined vibrant local culture with intense discussions on SAP solutions. This hybrid event was a prime opportunity for participants to attend both onsite and virtually, and the agenda was packed with engaging topics like SAP Variant Configuration (VC), CPQ (Configure Price Quote) integrations, and AI in business processes.
CLARITY’s presentation, “The Future of Product Configuration is Now,” was a highlight, where we introduced our AI-driven methodologies – assessment of business process maturity, data readiness and organizational readiness. This methodology involves a thorough assessment, value creation, a tailored implementation roadmap, and ongoing scaling and monitoring, positioning organizations to successfully adopt AI.
The full-day workshop on Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), led by Karyna Mihalevich, was another hit. Participants worked hands-on with IDP tools, learning how to extract insights from documents like Purchase Orders and Quotations, creating objects directly within SAP systems. Karyna also provided practical examples of prompt engineering for IDP, showing how individuals without machine learning skills can write instructions in natural language to automate document processing.
Using Graip.AI (available on the SAP Store), participants saw how quickly insights from PDFs or emails could be turned into actions, such as creating Quotations in SAP CPQ or Sales Orders in ERP systems. The strong interest from attendees underscored the potential for integrating IDP solutions into their SAP landscapes, either as an additional partner offering or a tailored customer solution.
2. The CWG Nordic Online event (June 11)
In collaboration with the CWG Board, CLARITY hosted an online event focused on the launch of the CWG Nordic Chapter. The virtual format allowed us to connect with an even broader audience, setting the foundation for a thriving Nordic-Baltic SAP community. The session, “Request-to-Order Powered by AI,” presented by Karyna Mihalevich, CWG Member of the Board and SAP Solution Advisor & AI Stream Lead at CLARITY, underscored AI’s potential to transform processes from quote to cash, enabling faster and smarter decision-making.
Marin Ukalovic, the CWG Chairman, and Luka Pilipovic, SAP SPQ Product Manager, added depth to the event with their sessions on SAP Variant Configuration and CPQ integrations. Their sessions provided valuable insights into these core SAP functionalities, exploring practical use cases and integration strategies.
One of the event’s standout features was its focus on networking and collaboration. The CWG Nordic Chapter is a growing community that aims to facilitate knowledge-sharing among SAP professionals in the Nordic region (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway). The CWG mission is to host regular meetups to foster continuous learning, which will help companies across the region optimize their SAP configurations and business processes.
3. 2024 European Fall Conference in Dubrovnik (October 13–17)
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Adriatic coast, the event provided an ideal setting for thoughtful discussions and networking. This year’s agenda focused on advancements and best practices across SAP’s Variant Configuration (AVC), CPQ, and S/4HANA, covering topics from 3D visualization and configuration to AI-driven product recommendations and pricing strategies.
The Dubrovnik conference also emphasized the importance of community and collaboration. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in interactive panel discussions, connect with peers from across Europe, and explore the latest trends in SAP VC, CPQ, and AI adoption. The event not only highlighted technological advancements but also reinforced the power of collective knowledge within the CWG community.
CLARITY’s session, “Bridging the Gap: SAP CPQ Solutions for Real-World Customer Challenges,” highlighted how SAP CPQ implementations can support businesses in achieving their goals in Quotation Management through practical, real-world examples. Through a series of case studies, CLARITY illustrated how SAP CPQ solutions have been successfully implemented to enhance customer experiences, streamline workflows, and support business growth across various industries. This session provided attendees with actionable strategies for maximizing the potential of SAP CPQ and driving digital transformation in their sales operations.
Key Takeaways: Insights and Opportunities for Collaboration
Reflecting on the CWG events, it’s clear how essential these gatherings are for driving innovation and collaboration within the SAP ecosystem as well as knowledge exchange. The discussions around AI, data management, and advanced configurations are shaping the future of business processes, enabling companies to become more efficient.
One of the key insights from these conferences is the growing importance of AI in transforming business models, particularly in configurable products and services. At CLARITY, we demonstrated how AI, when applied thoughtfully, can unlock new levels of efficiency and precision, particularly in SAP-based solutions. Our framework, which assesses business process maturity, data readiness, and organizational alignment, resonated with attendees, sparking further discussions on how to drive successful AI adoption.
These events also highlighted the strength of the CWG community. By exchanging knowledge and ideas, we can better address the challenges that companies face when implementing SAP Variant Configuration and other services solutions. The expertise shared by speakers like Marin Ukalovic, Kevin Meyer, and Luka Pilipovic provided deep insights into how SAP solutions continue to evolve, offering even more flexibility and power to businesses.
